“Think about it. Why would you make something that you’re going to use for a few minutes out of a material that’s basically going to last forever, and you’re just going to throw it away. What’s up with that?” – Jeb Berrier, BagIt Movie.
Who We Are
Plastic Free Hartlepool is a community group founded in 2018 that now has well over 1,000 members. We are a community group that puts Hartlepool at the forefront of fighting the tide of plastic waste. As you are probably all too aware, plastic is a very real problem facing our oceans and our planet in general. This is a topic that is all over the news at the moment.
What We Do
- We schedule regular beach cleans as well as participating in the Surfers Against Sewage national beach clean program.
- We work with local businesses, clubs, schools and other organisations to educate on alternatives to plastic and to prevent plastic entering our oceans.
- We organise regular litter picking events around Hartlepool.
We are about working together, rather than against each other.
ALL community groups, local clubs, classes, businesses, schools and individuals are welcome to join us and get involved.
